Individual therapy

A room that isentirely yours

Weekly one-to-one sessions with a registered therapist, in our Nairobi rooms or by video.

What it is

How thisactually works

Individual therapy is a standing hour with one person whose only job is to understand what you're carrying. Some people arrive with something specific — a loss, a diagnosis, a decision they can't make. Others arrive knowing only that things have felt heavy for a while. Both are reasons enough. Your therapist won't hand you advice; they'll help you see the shape of what's happening and what you want to do about it. Sessions are unhurried, and what you bring sets the direction.

What to expect

From enquiryto ending

  1. 01

    Before you start

A short conversation so we understand what you're looking for and can suggest a therapist who fits. Nothing is committed at this point.

  2. 02

    Your first session

Mostly listening. Your therapist will explain confidentiality and its limits, then ask what brought you. You do not need a prepared story.

  3. 03

    After a few weeks

You and your therapist will talk about whether this is working and what you want from it. Changing therapist is a normal request, not an awkward one.

  4. 04

    Ending

Some people come for six weeks, others for years. You decide, and a planned ending is part of the work rather than the end of it.

If you need someone right now

Therapy is not an emergency service, and a first appointment takes time to arrange. If you cannot wait, call the Kenya Red Cross on 1199 — free counselling, 24 hours a day.
